Just three miles from Bamburgh and near Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, the picturesque village of Bamburgh offers long golden beaches and a great choice of shops, pubs, restaurants and golf courses. Don’t miss a tour of the imposing Bamburgh Castle or the pretty fishing village of Seahouses just three miles away which hosts many attractions including boat trips to the incredible seal colony on the Farne Islands. Berwick and the castle and gardens at Alnwick are a short drive away.

Alnwick Castle, dubbed the “Windsor of the North” boasts an impressive renaissance interior containing a wonderful art collection, as well as stunning gardens. The castle at Warkworth is also very well-preserved, while Bamburgh Castle, the seat of the old Kings of Northumbria, has a fantastic location right on the seashore. Don’t miss a trip to Lindisfarne, birthplace of English Christianity, or to Hadrian’s Wall, which runs through the county.
